A Cozy, Lodge-Inspired Design That Blends Function, Comfort, and Connection
The kitchen was originally small and cramped, tucked away in a corner at the back of the home. Since the husband loves to cook, one of the main goals was to create a more functional space that included upgraded appliances, ample prep areas, and plenty of storage. Another key objective was to open the kitchen to the rest of the main living area, so that cooking would no longer feel isolated from family and guests gathering in the family room. This transformation was designed to create a more connected, open environment that would make spending time together and entertaining feel effortless.
Because skiing is a favorite family activity, the design also aimed to capture the relaxed feel of a mountain lodge. The homeowners envisioned coming home to a sophisticated yet cozy space inspired by modern lodge design, where they could unwind, cook, and socialize in comfort. The open kitchen, paired with the nearby brick chimney and fireplace, along with the mix of cabinet colors, rustic flooring, and warm, inviting lighting, helped bring that vision to life.
