In 1989, the idea of Blackdog was born out of a spare room and a beat-up pick-up truck. Dave and Brenda Bryan had developed a vision—an industry-leading remodeling company, and then named it after their rambunctious Black Labrador pup, Moose.

Our History

Blackdog began with Dave and Brenda wearing all of the hats: swinging hammers, juggling phone calls, meeting clients every day of the week, and ensuring the bookkeeping and administration was kept up. with. After several months of growing, it was time to hire team members for help in the field and, eventually, the office!

What Does It Take to Create an Industry-Leading Remodeling Company?

As Blackdog grew, Dave and Brenda stuck to their vision. How would Blackdog Design/Build/Remodel prove to be an industry-leading remodeling company? First and foremost, Blackdog Design/Build/Remodel would have to meet two crucial expectations: To deliver great experiences and excellent projects (and nothing less!) and to complete projects on time and on budget. No exceptions!

The model was simple, but you’d be surprised how the industry is tempted to meet some expectations while others get lost along the way! Dave and Brenda had something else in mind: They were compelled to write a formal business plan for building their first Blackdog Design/Build/Remodel Showroom in 1995.

The first Blackdog Design/Build/Remodel Showroom housed creative and exciting home remodeling displays, and was managed by the growing team of talented people. By the year 2000, Blackdog was bursting at the seams with growth! At this point, the current showroom and office building was constructed. In 2009, Dave and Brenda opened a second location in Amherst, NH, which moved to Nashua in 2020.

Since our early years in the home remodeling industry, Blackdog hasn’t strayed from the core values that founded our company. Blackdog Design/Build/Remodel pushes forward today with a culture of continuous improvement. From kitchens, baths to room additions and every project in between, the Blackdog Family has developed a unique process that allows us to turn every new project into an unparalleled success.
